A sad ending to 2012

Missing my grandma so much :'(

As you all know my lovely Wan passed away almost 2 months ago after being in coma for several days. She was discharged from ICU to the normal ward the night before. We were relieved to have some-kind of hope that she'll be better -despite her unconsciousness at least there'll be less 'miscellaneous tubes poked in her nose/arm etc'..

I picked up my mom from KPJ Shah Alam that night and I performed the normal routine of reciting Yassin next to her, talking to her and calling her name.. but as usual nothing happened. She still didn't gain consciousness. As we were still waiting for another aunt for the night shift I was flipping through the TV channels and there was a PRamlee Bujang Lapok on screen, so I left it on so that she can at least her the dialogues of the movie as she loves watching 'em black and white films. [You know that there are stories of people in coma can actually hear things around them but they just can't respond to us ]

Later that night when my aunt arrived, we kissed her goodbye... [not knowing it'll be the last kiss :'( ] Early the next morning around 8am the doctors detected that her temperature was rising and they wheeled her back to ICU. Then during the normal tracheostomy suction procedure the nurses faced some complications and it was at that moment they asked my aunt to call all the family members to gather at the hospital. Then, after a few minutes from the first phone call we received another call informing about granny's death.

It was quick and unexpected. We never thought she'd leave us so soon.
Allah has everything planned for every single soul on earth.
Wan died a year after (shy of several days) my other grandma (Tok) passed away.
In a year I lost both my grannies, and up until today I still refer to their room as Tok's room or Wan's room. It's not easy to delete the memories especially when you've lived together over the past years.... Their presence will always be missed.
I hope both of them are in a more peaceful place now. Al fatihah.

Here's a pic of Wan n her top 3 (hottest?nope..eldest) granddaughters taken in 30th June 2012.
Wan's not ready yet. Her pics on that day were all the same.
She didn't look at the camera. Except for the one at the bottom..
Love u 1

Easy to please

Work can sometimes be torchering to you as there are files to be updated and abundance of non-related teaching or what we call-'admin' work to do, but as an educator I can easily shed it off by small gestures from my students. It makes me forget all the problems for that day.

These are what makes my heart smile:
Seeing them waiting for you in class with eager smiles on their faces.
A simple thank you at the end of each class.
Saying I enjoyed learning in your class today. (oh really?)
Thanks for the grammar tip. (although at times it wasn't intended to be a tip)
Asking about what we'll learn about next week. (but I haven't prepared anything yet)
Shakes and kisses my hand before going out. (my hand sometimes smells of curry, especially after lunch!)

Although these expressions might not come from all the students, but for those students who did, they surely touched my heart on 'any particular day' when I seem to feel a lil vulnerable of myself .

I guess a little gesture goes a long way.

This entry was inspired by an email I received a former student earlier this morning,
Oh God, ma oily-face snapshot . malus
(Note:* picture was taken a few months back when I was handling a dinner event)..

It REALLY made my day. :)

Aidilfitri this year

Wishing everyone a blessed Aidilfitri!

another 28 days and counting..

My family celebrates Aidilfitri without one of our grandma who passed away last year. Her lost was deeply felt especially in Ramadan as one chair at the dinner table was left vacant during the break of fast.

This Ramadan taught me to cherish every moment that we have on earth to practice good deeds as an investment for the land hereafter. Sometimes the 'good' that we've done so far before this is not good enough so we have to intensify our goodwill and make regular check and balance of ourselves.

During the Ramadan I also felt myself balooning up so fast which left me aching during the 'Tahyat Akhir' whereby I couldn't place my legs in a position that it should be due to my fat-so-ness!! Can you believe that I had to sit in a weird position coz of my heaviness. Taksukala coz it's an imperfection in our prayers. :(

This is the right way to do it
I do realize I need to shed some weight off fast and control both diet and activate myself to exercise. Before Ramadan, I've practiced regular exercise everynight by jogging at the stadium doing 8 laps which did help in maintaining my weight and toning my hidden muscles... but there wasn't any loss in kilos. I also went swimming in Putrajaya on alternate nights but I don't think these exercises that I'm doing paid off. Perhaps, exercising alone is not enough for my type of body, I do need to control food intake too.

Good luck to me and I promise not to take any seconds during meals. I hope that will be a start to controlling what I eat coz I can't help to resist food... and futhermore resisting food during raya season..Huaaa
